Year 7 Social Studies
You will looking at how a grid helps use know where we are on a map. This is important because without it you would find it very difficult to find a specific spot on a map. One you understand how a grid helps to know where you are on a map, the next step is to understand how to use the grid references.
Once you have watched the videos to introduce the idea of grid references to you, read through pages 32-33 in your G1T (Geog 1 Textbook) and answer questions 1-8 in your Social Studies Mini-Journal.
Once completed, take the online grid reference test by clicking here. Retest until you are able to score a C grade or higher. Print your certificate as a pdf and email it to Mr. Craig. Once you are confident you know how to identify points on a grid map using reference points correctly, click here to complete the online quiz. This quiz is for marks. You must use your school email address to enter the quiz and will only be allowed 1 attempt to answer it.

You are going to decide how much to mark the sketch map out of, not deciding what your partner's map is worth.
From here you will compare your list with the lists made by the rest of your group.
You will now, as a group, be marking a a series of maps and then presenting your reasons for the marks to the rest of the class.
