First Term Scheme of Work:
Numbers and calculation:
Numbers and calculation:
- Nf1: consolidate writing a fraction in its simplest form by cancelling common factors
- Nf2: add, subtract multiply and divide fractions, interpreting divisions as multiplicative inverse, and cancelling common factor before multiplying or dividing.
- Nc1: Extend mental methods of calculation, working with decimals, fractions, percentages, and factors.
- Nc2:solve word problems mentally
- Nc3: consolidate use of the rules of arithmetic and inverse operations to simplify calculations.
- Nc4:multiply by decimal, understanding where to position the decimal point by considering equivalent calculations; divide decimals by transforming to divisions by an integer
- Nc5: recognize the effect of multiplying and dividing numbers between 0 and 1
- Ni1: add, subtract, multiply and divide directed numbers
- Ni2: Estimate square root and cube roots
- Ni3: use positive, negative and zero indices and the index laws for multiplication and division of positive integers power.
- Np1: Recognize the equivalence of 0.1, 1/10 and 10 -1 multiplies and divides whole numbers and decimals by the power of 10 to the
- power of any positive or negative integers.
- Np2 : round numbers to a given number of decimal places or significant figures; use to give solution to the problem with an appropriate degree of accuracy
- Np3 Use order of operations including brackets and powers
- Nf4: recognize when fractions or percentages are needed to compare different quantities.
- Nf5: compare two ratios; interpret and use ration in a range of contexts.
- Nf6 Recognize when two different quantities are directly proportional; solve problem involving proportionality
- Nf3: solve problems involving percentage change, choosing the correct numbers to take 100 % or as whole including simple problems
- involving simple personal or households finance
